Rules of Preposition (বাংলায়)
According to traditional grammar, there are eight parts of speech in the English language. Preposition is one of them. The word ‘Preposition’ can be divided into two segments: ‘Pre’ means before, and ‘position’ means location. The words which are located before a noun and connects it with the other words of the sentence, making it a meaningful one, are called prepositions. A sentence fails to express actual meaning without the appropriate use of prepositions. For example, The book is on the table. Here, if we don’t use the preposition on, the sentence means that the book is the table. Some of the most common prepositions with their meaning and uses are as follows:
