Write a letter to your younger brother about the negative effects of Eve-teasing.
Dear Shihab,
Hope you’re doing well. I wanted to talk to you about something important – eve-teasing. I know It’s not a good thing to talk about, but it’s essential to know about it.
Eve-teasing is when someone bothers or teases girls or women in a way that makes them uncomfortable. It’s not a good thing and has some really bad effects.
Firstly, it makes the person being teased feel scared and upset. Suppose someone made you feel afraid when you’re just trying to go out – is it ok for you? Of course not.
Secondly, it can make girls and women not want to go out or do things they enjoy. They might avoid going places or doing activities they like because they’re worried about being teased. That’s unfair because everyone should feel safe doing what they love. But they cannot because of teasing.
Eve-teasing can also affect a person’s confidence and mental health. Constant teasing can make someone feel bad about themselves, and that’s not okay. We should always try to lift, not bring each other down.
As your older brother, I want you to understand that respecting others is much more important. Always treat girls and women with kindness and respect. If you see someone eve-teasing or making someone uncomfortable, don’t be afraid to speak up or tell someone you trust.
Let’s create a world where everyone feels safe, happy, and respected. I’m here for you if you have questions or want to discuss this further.
Take care, little buddy.
Lots of love,
Sourav
