রবার্ট ফ্রস্টের কবিতা “Fire and Ice” পৃথিবীর শেষ বা ধ্বংস কিভাবে হবে তা নিয়ে কথা বলে — পৃথিবী আগুনে শেষ হবে নাকি বরফে। কবি এই দুই ভাবনা নিয়ে নিজের মত প্রকাশ করেছেন। কবি আগুন ও বরফকে দুটি শক্তিশালী মানবীয় অনুভূতির প্রতীক হিসেবে ব্যবহার করেছেন — আগুন হচ্ছে লালসা/আকাঙ্ক্ষা (desire)-এর প্রতীক, বরফ হচ্ছে ঘৃণা (hate)-এর প্রতীক।
