An Irish airman foresees his death Bangla Summary (বাংলায়)
কবিতাটি রবার্ট গ্রেগরি নামে কবির একজন বন্ধুকে নিয়ে লেখা, যিনি ১ম বিশ্বযুদ্ধে একজন ইটালিয়ানের বিমান সেনার দ্বারা ভুলক্রমে করা গুলিতে নিহত হন। কবি তার বন্ধুর মৃত্যুর ঠিক আগ মুহূর্তে তার মনের চিন্তা ও অনুভূতি গুলো নিয়ে এই কবিতা লিখেছেন। কবির বৈমানিক বন্ধু চিন্তা করছিলেন যে, যাদের বিরুদ্ধে তারা যুদ্ধ করছিলেন, তারা কেউ তার শত্রু নন।

আবার যাদের জন্যে যুদ্ধ করছিলেন, তারাও তার নিজের কেউ নয়, তাদের প্রতি তার কোন ভালবাসাও নেই। সে আরো ভাবছিল সেনাবাহিনীতে সে যেই সময়টা ব্যয় করেছে, তা ছিল একেবারে উদ্দেশ্যহীন। কারন সে তার প্রিয় মাতৃভূমির জন্যে কিছুই করেনি। এজন্য সে তার উদ্দেশ্যহীন জীবনকে ভারসাম্যপুর্ন করার জন্যে মৃত্যুকেই বেছে নেন।
The poem is about a friend of the poet named Robert Gregory, who was accidentally shot by an Italian airman in World War I. The poet wrote this poem about the thoughts and feelings of his friend just before his death. Kabir’s pilot friend was thinking that those they were fighting against were not his enemies.
And those for whom he was fighting were not his own, nor did he have any love for them. He also thought the time he had spent in the army was pointless. Because he did nothing for his beloved motherland. That is why he chooses death to balance his aimless life.
