Paragraph of COVID-19

COVID-19

COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus disease 2019, is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. It quickly spreads across the world. The World Health Organization declared it a pandemic in March 2020. COVID-19 spreads primarily through respiratory droplets when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. It can also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces. The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe and can include fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, and sore throat. Some people may experience no symptoms at all, while others may become critically ill and require hospitalization. Older adults and those with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory conditions are at a higher risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19. To slow the spread of the virus, public health measures such as wearing masks, social distancing, and frequent hand washing have been implemented across the globe. Vaccines have also been developed and authorized for emergency use, allowing people to protect themselves and others from the disease. Despite these efforts, COVID-19 continues to impact communities worldwide, highlighting the importance of continued vigilance and preparedness in the face of infectious diseases.
