Which theory of first language development do you find most attractive or balanced Why NU Language is the most essential tool of human life It helps people to share ideas express feelings and build society Many scholars have tried to explain how children learn their first language Among them are Skinner Chomsky Piaget and Bruner Each gave a different view Behaviourists stressed habit and imitation Chomsky stressed innate ability On the other hand Piaget stressed mental growth and Bruner stressed social contact After studying all these the interactionist theory seems most balanced as it combines many aspects together Balance of Nature and Nurture The interactionist theory accepts that children are born with some natural ability At the same time it also says that the environment plays a strong role This makes it more balanced than others For example Chomsky said children have an LAD while Bruner said they need a

LASS or support system from parents Both nature and nurture work together This provides a more comprehensive answer to language growth Role of Social Interaction Children cannot learn language only by hearing words They must use words in daily talk with parents brothers sisters and teachers Vygotsky called this the Zone of Proximal Development where children learn better with help from others Bruner also explained scaffolding where adults guide children step by step This shows why social interaction is central Without interaction as in the case of Jim the son of deaf parents progress remains poor even with input from TV Support from Real Examples The interactionist view is supported by many real cases For example Colwyn Trevarthen studied how babies take turns in early games with parents This later grows into turn-taking in speech Jerome Bruner showed how child-directed speech with slow tone and simple words helps children learn faster These examples prove that language is not only a mental gift but also a social activity Flexibility of the Theory Another reason this theory is attractive is its flexibility It does not reject other theories fully It accepts that children have some natural ability as Chomsky said It also accepts that practice and repetition help learning It agrees with Piaget that concept growth supports words But it puts all these within a social frame Thus it gives a broader and more practical picture Practical Use in Education For teachers the interactionist theory has many uses It encourages group work pair talk and role play It helps teachers give scaffolding and child-centered support This matches modern communicative methods in language classrooms Unlike behaviourism it does not make learning boring Unlike strict innatism it does not ignore society Unlike pure cognitive theory it does not tie language only to mental growth It is practical balanced and human In conclusion all theories have given us valuable ideas about language growth Behaviourism stressed habit innatism stressed natural ability and cognitive theory stressed mental growth But the interactionist theory brings all these together It values both nature and the environment as well as ability and practice It also gives real classroom methods for teachers For these reasons the interactionist theory is the most attractive and balanced view of first language development
