What is Nazrul s conception of man The National Poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam - is rightly called the poet of man His poetry expresses his deep love and faith in humanity In his famous poem Man Manush he glorifies man as the best creation of God and the symbol of divinity and equality Man as the Best Creation of God Nazrul sees man as the highest creation of God To him no religion or caste is greater than man He begins the poem saying Of equality I sing Man comes first and there is nothing nobler than him These words clearly show that he worships humanity above all things Man is sacred because God lives in the human heart Therefore serving man means serving God Equality and Brotherhood of Man Nazrul rejects all divisions of race class and religion He believes that all men are equal because all

are children of the same Creator In Man he shows how religious leaders destroy this unity by locking temples and mosques to the poor The hungry man s rejection proves that man s rights are denied in the name of false religion Nazrul protests against this cruelty and teaches that love not prayer is the real path to God Divinity and Dignity of Man Nazrul believes that God lives in every human being He says that the man we neglect today may be a prophet tomorrow He says It is man who has brought the books Books have not brought any man These lines show that prophets themselves were human Therefore man holds the highest place in creation In Man Manush Kazi Nazrul Islam glorifies man as the image of God and the center of creation His vision of humanity is characterized by faith love equality and divine greatness
