Write a critical appreciation of the poem Tyger nbsp The Tyger is one of the most famous poems by William Blake It was published in in his collection Songs of Experience The poem is short but its meaning is very deep Blake uses the image of a tiger to ask serious questions about God creation and the nature of good and evil The poem shows the dark and powerful side of the world It makes the reader think about fear beauty and mystery in nature God s Creation The poem talks about a tiger The tiger shines brightly in the dark forest It is like burning with fire Tyger Tyger burning bright The tiger is beautiful strong and frightening at the same time The poet looks at the tiger and feels both wonder and fear He asks questions about who created such a powerful creature He asks What immortal hand

or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry This question shows that the poet is amazed by God s creation He thinks about the heart of the tiger He thinks about who gave it life and strength He also thinks about what tools were used to make its body and brain Blake wonders who could dare to create such a strong and fearsome animal Good and Evil The central idea of the poem is the existence of both good and evil in the world Blake compares the tiger with the lamb In Blake s poem The Lamb the lamb represents innocence kindness and peace But the tiger represents power fear and destruction The poet asks Did he who made the Lamb make thee This question tells us that the world has both good and evil And both come from the same creator Form and Rhyme Scheme The poem has six stanzas Each stanza has four lines This form is called a quatrain The rhyme scheme of the poem is AABB This means the first two lines rhyme with each other and the next two lines also rhyme For example the first two lines are Tyger Tyger burning bright nbsp In the forests of the night Here bright and night rhyme The poem has a strong rhythm The repeated sounds make it musical and powerful For example in the very first line Tyger is repeated We also find a repetition of the b sound in burning and bright Images and Symbols Blake uses strong images in the poem The tiger is shown as burning bright in the dark forest This image makes the tiger look like fire Fire is a symbol of power energy and danger The tiger itself is the main symbol The tiger is a symbol of violence power and evil It represents the darker side of life Language and Tone The language of the poem is simple but very powerful Blake uses short lines and strong words He uses many questions instead of statements This questioning tone shows his wonder and fear The tone of the poem is serious and thoughtful Sometimes it feels fearful Sometimes it feels full of admiration The poet does not try to explain everything He only invites the reader to think deeply that the world has both good and evil The world has soft and gentle animals like the lamb and also strong and fearful animals like the tiger In conclusion The Tyger is a great symbolic poem Through the image of the tiger Blake expresses wonder and fear Blake shows that the world has both beauty and danger and that both come from the same creator
