Brave New World

Novel | Aldous Huxley

Brave New World Themes

Themes:

  • Control by Technology: The government uses technology to control everything, like making babies in labs and using Soma to keep people happy. Technology replaces natural things like emotions and birth.
  • No Individuality: People in the World State are not allowed to be different. They are made in groups, taught to think the same, and can't have their own opinions. Everyone must follow the same rules.
  • Happiness vs. Truth: In this society, being happy is more important than knowing the truth. People take drugs and stay busy so they never feel sad or wonder about life.
  • Losing Humanity: In the World State, people are treated like objects. They are created and trained to do certain jobs and lose their feelings. Things like love, family, and emotions are not important, making the world unkind.
