When Crusoe was alone on the island, food was his first need. He had no b

read, no shop, and no people. Slowly, he learned to produce corn and make his food. He also kept goats and grew many plants. His hard work helped him to live.

Finds Some Corn: Crusoe saw some corn growing near his tent. He found that they came from some seeds dropped by chance. He says,

“ I saw about ten or twelve ears come out, which were perfect green barley”

This small gift from God gave him hope. He saved them carefully for the next season.

Learns to Sow Seeds: Crusoe knew nothing about farming. Still, he tried to plant those few seeds. He waited for the rainy season. Then he sowed the seeds. He kept working and watched them grow slowly.

Takes Great Care: He watered the plants and protected them from birds and animals. He worked daily in the sun and rain. His plants grew well. He says,

“It was now harvest, and our crop in good order”

He waited many months. Finally, the crops were ready. He was very happy.

Stores The Grain: After cutting the corn, Crusoe saved it for future use. He kept some for eating and some for planting. This food gave him great comfort and peace.

Learns to Make Bread: At first, he had no idea how to make bread. He ground the corn with a stone. Then he made simple bread with the fire. This was a great success for him. He says,

“ the way I made my bread, planted my corn, cured my grapes”

Crusoe worked hard to grow food. He did not give up. He learned to sow, grow, and store corn. He made bread with simple tools. He also kept animals for milk and meat. With faith and effort, he lived a good life.
