Modes of Study and Their Uses – পড়াশোনার ধরন ও তার ব্যবহার: পড়াশোনা করলে একজন মানুষ পরিপূর্ণ হয়। আলোচনা করলে একজন মানুষ প্রস্তুত হয়। আর লিখলে মানুষ পারফেক্ট হয় বা সঠিক হয়, তার ভেতরে কোন ভুল থাকে না। বেকন মূলত বলেছেন, লিখলে মানুষের স্মৃতিশক্তি বাড়ে ও আলোচনা করলে মানুষের উপস্থিত বুদ্ধি বাড়ে।
7.Different Values of Different Subjects – বিভিন্ন সাবজেক্ট পড়ার গুরুত্ব: বিভিন্ন সাবজেক্টের যে আলাদা আলাদা গুরুত্ব রয়েছে, তা এখানে বেকন তুলে ধরেছেন। তিনি বলেছেন ইতিহাস মানুষকে জ্ঞানী করে, কবিদের বা সাহিত্যিকদের উপস্থাপনা অনেকটা মজাদার বা সুন্দর হয়। গণিত চর্চাকারীর ব্রেইন অনেক সূক্ষ হয়। দর্শন চর্চা করলে মানুষের চিন্তা ভাবনা গভীর থেকে গভীরতর হবে। নীতিশাস্ত্র পড়লে মানুষ খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠবে। যুক্তিবিদ্যা এবং অলংকার শাস্ত্র মানুষকে যুক্তি দিতে সাহায্য করে, অর্থাৎ যুক্তিবাদী হয়ে ওঠে। পড়াশোনাই মানুষের চরিত্র গঠন করে।

Curative Power of Studies – নিরাময় (মনের রোগ) করতে পড়াশোনা: বেকন বলেছেন জ্ঞান চর্চার ক্ষেত্রে কোন বাধা নেই। তবে যদি কখনো কোনো বাধা আসে, তা দূর করা সম্ভব। এটা সম্ভব শুধুমাত্র উপযুক্ত পড়াশোনার মাধ্যমে। শারীরিক ব্যায়ামের মাধ্যমে যেমন শারীরিক বিভিন্ন রোগ দূর করা যায়, ঠিক তেমনি নিয়মিত পড়াশোনা করলে মনের রোগ দূর করা সম্ভব। কিডনি এবং মূত্রাশয় থেকে পাথর অপসারণ করতে Bowling খেলা ভালো। ফুসফুস এবং বুকের জন্য Shooting খেলা ভালো। পাকস্থলীর জন্য হাঁটা ভালো। Horse Riding করলে ব্রেইনের এক্সারসাইজ হবে। এরকম আরো অনেক ব্যায়াম আছে। বেকন বলেছেন, যদি কোনো মানুষের বুদ্ধি এলোমেলো হয়ে যায়, তাকে গণিত অধ্যয়ন করতে দিন। এতে তার ব্রেইন ঠিক হয়ে যাবে। এতেও যদি তার ব্রেইন ঠিক না হয়, তাকে আবার গণিত করা শুরু করতে হবে।
যদি তার ব্রেইন ভালো এবং মন্দের মধ্যে পার্থক্য করতে না পারে, তাহলে তাকে মধ্যযুগীয় দার্শনিকদের দর্শনশাস্ত্র পড়তে দিতে হবে। কারণ এই মধ্যযুগীয় দার্শনিকরা একদম সূক্ষ্মভাবে কোন কিছুর পার্থক্য দেখাতে সক্ষম ছিলেন। কোন মানুষ যদি যৌক্তিকভাবে কোন কাজ করতে না পারে এবং কোন কিছু যদি মনে করতে না পারে, তবে তাকে আইনজীবীদের মামলা অধ্যয়ন করতে হবে অর্থাৎ আইন শাস্ত্র পড়তে হবে। তাই বেকনের মতে, মনের প্রতিটি ত্রুটির একটি বিশেষ নিরাময় বা প্রতিকার আছে।
